Brian J. Gallagher is the Assistant Dean of Graduate Enrollment at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, MD. Brian oversees the graduate admission, recruitment, financial aid, and operations functions at the university, provides strategic direction for graduate enrollment and revenue processes, and serves as advisor to other university academic and administrative units and leadership regarding industry standards, best practices, and market trends related to graduate education.
Prior to joining Loyola, Brian served as Director of Admissions and Academic Services for Graduate Studies at the University of California, Davis, managing a team of student services professionals in charge of centralized graduate admissions and academic advising services, developing graduate education policy, and implementing new admission systems and processes for the university.
Brian’s professional experience also includes serving as Director of Graduate Admissions at San Francisco State University, where he implemented changes to grow the unit and improve operational efficiency of graduate admission practices. He had previously held the role of International Admission Specialist in the graduate division, managing international outreach, admissions processes, and partnerships. Brian’s first role in higher education was as Admissions Representative for the School of Global Policy & Strategy (GPS) at the University of California, San Diego.
Brian’s areas of professional interest include holistic graduate admission practices, outreach to historically underrepresented populations in graduate education, and higher education administration and policy. Brian is a member of NAGAP (the Association for Graduate Enrollment Management), JGAP (Jesuit Graduate Admission Professionals), and the Council of Graduate Schools.
