Before joining Indiana University Indianapolis, he held leadership roles as vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Northern Illinois University and associate vice president for student affairs at Florida State University.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Weldy serves on the Board of Trustees at Eureka College, his alma mater, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art. He also holds a Master of Science degree in History from Illinois State University and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
