University of the District of Columbia (UDC) announced last week that professor Andrea Doctor has been inducted into the Academy of Associate Degree Nursing, recognizing her impact on nursing education and her commitment to ensuring quality healthcare for everyone.
Since joining UDC in 2015, Andrea Doctor, PhD, CNE has played a key role in shaping the future of nursing, both locally and nationally. She has worked tirelessly to prepare the next generation of nurses to tackle the challenges of modern healthcare, improving patient care and advancing the field of associate degree nursing (ADN).
The UDC nursing program trains about 75 students annually, equipping them for careers in hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare settings.
In an official university statement, Doctor said, “I am deeply honored to be inducted as a fellow for my contribution to associate-degree nursing education. This recognition represents not only a celebration of personal achievement but also UDC’s commitment to fostering excellence in nursing education and empowering future leaders in our field.”
The Academy of Associate Degree Nursing, established by the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing in 2016, recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the education and practice of ADN.
Andrea Doctor is an associate professor at the University of the District of Columbia with over 17 years of experience in clinical practice, healthcare administration, and education. A certified nurse educator specializing in nursing informatics, she has held leadership roles in program management and quality improvement. Committed to advancing nursing education, Doctor actively engages in research, publishing, and curriculum innovation.
